Updates for the Week of June 30th

Happy Summer!

With summer vacations underway, kids at summer camps and super hot temperatures, we are definitely in the throes of summer now.  Plus the Fourth of July is just a few days away!

Here’s a look at some things coming up and news about Kent Gardens...

Events This Week:
The pool will close early, at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 2, for swim (Monday) and dive (Tuesday) meets.

Both teams are rocking the beginning of the season with wins all around so far in their new, higher divisions! Go Dolphins!

Thursday is the 4th of July! As usual there will be a fun day for our annual Independence Day Party.  Join us from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. for games, prizes, firecracker pops and cotton candy, of course!  Please remember that the Club often reaches capacity on the 4th.  Plan ahead to arrive early, and with your entire group. However, the fun doesn’t end there... the pool will remain open this year until 9:00 pm!! (A request by members over the years.) Bring your cookout to the pool and avoid the downtown crowds Thursday evening. Also, in light of holiday staffing needs, please note that adult lap swim will not be offered on July 4th.

Group Swim Lessons:
Sign-ups begin this week at the front desk for new group swim lessons! Our wonderful Premier Aquatics management team, Viktoria and Iliyan, will be offering group lessons for the learn-to-swim set.  Advance registration is required, and payments will be made directly to the instructors.  Half-hour sessions will be offered on Monday/Friday/Sunday at 10 a.m. and on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., subject to change based on other Club events.

Sensory Swim:
Our Sensory Swim - special swim times for our members who need a quieter, calmer atmosphere when swimming - is going on throughout the summer. If you have a family member who would benefit from this calmer swim time, please contact Board member, Claudia Tielking at [email protected] so she can help you decide if this is best for you. Sensory Swim times are listed on the Club Calendar.

Where do I find...
Most of the time the answer is, “On the webpage.” Check it out here
For weather or other unexpected changes, sign up for our RainedOut notices here!
We also post information on the KGRC Facebook page and Instagram!

I heard about...
Yes, it is true that KGRC was broken into and vandalized last weekend. As you might have seen in the news, eight other clubs in Arlington and Fairfax Counties were vandalized over the weekend. While this is such an affront to the club and KGRC community, we were lucky that the damage was minimal. We, along with our neighbor pool communities, are working with the police. In addition, the area pool board presidents are in touch with each other to share information as needed. As always, if you have any information about this, you are encouraged to reach out to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The Board hopes you are all enjoying your summer so far. We appreciate all of the kind words about the Club's staff, as well as suggestions for improvements at the pool. We take all of your comments seriously, so please let us know what you think.

See you at the pool!
